The guest speaker at this week’s RINGKNOCKER Virtual Meetup is Dennis Haley (USNA ’67).
Following his graduation from Annapolis with a major in Engineering, Dennis successfully completed Admiral Rickover’s nuclear power training program and served onboard the USS LONG BEACH (CGN-9), a nuclear powered cruiser. Leaving the Navy, he joined a small family-owned HVAC company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over a 25 year career, he grew this small business into one of the largest and most respected HVAC companies in the Delaware Valley.
Now THAT is no small feat! How did he accomplish this?
Dennis attributes his early success to his Navy experience and stresses just how much leadership played an important part of it, especially since most other companies had never developed any leadership skills in their managers. After selling his HVAC company to a large utility and joining their management team, it became evident that basic leadership skills were lacking, even in large organizations. That is why he started Academy Leadership.
At a time of unprecedented challenges to personal and organizational growth, leading a company or team through and beyond the coronavirus pandemic has proven to be a critical leadership stress test. Luckily for us, CEO Dennis Haley will share the story of Academy Leadership – founded by Naval Academy and West Point Graduates – and how their training and coaching programs have enabled leadership teams at all levels to adapt, grow and achieve company goals. He will also delve into Academy Leadership’s Franchise program, especially designed for military veterans like us to build our own companies by helping organizations develop leadership skills in their management teams to get business results.
If you’re in a corporate leadership role, are getting ready to leave the service or have an entrepreneurial leaning, you’re in for a treat this week. Dennis will share some examples of Academy Leadership’s outstanding franchisees and discuss how—with exemplary military service and some business experience—we RINGKNOCKERS can own and operate our own lucrative business too.
