Larry Gast: Rest in Peace

It was with great sadness that I learned today of the death of our brother-in-arms Larry Gast (USAFA ’85).

Larry died suddenly a week ago of a heart attack. His fiancée Karen Tunks shared the news over LinkedIn and other social channels.

Larry was a frequent attendee at our Meetups and was deeply engaged with all kinds of groups in and around the veteran community. I never had the chance to meet Larry in person, but he was such a reliable source of good cheer that I was always excited to see his name on my screen. We are all going to miss him!

A funeral mass honoring Larry will be held on September 9 at 11 am at this location:

St. Matthew Catholic Church
8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy
Charlotte, NC 28277

All are welcome. For those who may like to send flowers, the church will accept them at the above address. Please be sure they are clearly labeled “Larry Gast”.

Family and friends will also gather in Larry’s honor at 7pm on 9 September for a Celebration of Life at this location:

Village Tavern (outside on the patio)
4201 Congress St. #190
Charlotte, NC 28209
Food/drinks are Dutch

All of us at RINGKNOCKER offer Laura and the rest of Larry’s family our most heartfelt condolences. To Larry, wherever he may be, a salute…

Cheers, Larry!
